“Royalty” is my second in the “American Original” series. As with the first painting, “The Boss”, I wanted a composition that felt dramatic and impossible to ignore - like the bull elk in rut. This particular boy was bugling regularly and keeping a large harem impressed with his showmanship. He had already tussled (hence the broken tine) and was ready for more - it was that attitude I tried to capture here.
